What is your job at APCS?
I will be teaching pre-algebra, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th music, beginning band, the 5th-8th grade advanced band, as well as offering music lessons after school.
Tell us about you!
I grew up with piano lessons as a staple in my life. I lived in Florida for the first 12 years before my family moved us up to Greenville South Carolina. During my time in the Carolinas, I picked up the trumpet and decided to major in music. I finished my Bachelor’s in Music at Brevard College in 2013. Music is my passion but I also enjoy board games and strategy such as playing chess. My wife and I love to go camping and hiking on the weekends so we can enjoy God’s nature.

Tell us about your family.
My family consists of me, my wife Emily, our daughter Eden, and our boxer dog. Emily and her family have lived in Hendersonville for all of her life. My family lived in Florida for the first 12 years of my life, and then moved to Greenville SC. They currently live there and we like to visit them as much as we can.
How did you get connected with APCS?
I received a call from Erin Miller out of the blue asking if I had any interest in teaching music for APCS starting in the fall. I was shocked but also felt that God was calling me back to the field of music education.
What preparation did you have for your role at APCS?
I have had 13 years of piano lessons, 8 years of trumpet lessons, graduated with a B.A. in Music, and taught Fletcher Academy’s band program for 7 years. While at Fletcher Academy, I taught 5th grade beginning band, 6th-8th grade advanced band, the academy concert band, and went to various SDA schools to teach music classes. In addition to those responsibilities, I taught private piano, woodwind, and brass lessons to my students to help them advance beyond what could be learned in a classroom. Many of my students received $16,000 scholarships to Washington Adventist University if they joined the music groups.
What do you hope for APCS?
My biggest hope for APCS is to train as many musicians who can touch others with the gift that God has given them. An excellent music program takes time, effort, and support from the parents. I hope that APCS can be a school that is regarded as having the best music program in Asheville, and in the Carolina Conference.
What do you do when you are not at APCS teaching?
I teach music lessons after school and help non-profits in our area.
What are your hobbies?
Besides music, I enjoy board games, reading nonfiction, and playing chess. Spending time with my wife and daughter is definitely my favorite hobby out of all.
